              Albany Workshop on Art, Creative & Judging Photos

Members were invited to join the Albany Photographic Society (APS)  at a Workshop put on by The WAPJA members, Saturday was full of infomation & finished with some images being judged. On Sunday we where given a well known image by Henri Cartier-Bresson to interperate in our way, then to present to the whole group.

The Exhibition opens October 31 @ Mitchell House, Albany Hwy, Mt Barker opposite the Visitor Centre, till November 13th, 11am to 4pm every day, then the Exhibit goes onto to Lake Grace.
This is just a sample of some of the work, The Idea was to take a famous image then we were to put our spin onto it. Wagin CC did most of the photos & Mt Barker Art Group did the Ceramics & Paintings

                    Busselton & Albany Camera Club Visit

Busselton & Albany Camera Clubs stayed at Kobeelya in Katanning for the weekend Sep 10 - 12 with Wagin CC providing some of the photo opportunities. Saturday was a walk around the Broomehill Golf course and Boot Rock reserve at Broomehill, then onto Lake Ewlyamartup east of Katanning.

RSVP by 30th November.  

Format is to meet at Diane's place, 8 Rifle North Street, Wagin between 3.00-3.30pm for cuppa

at 3.45 pm will go as a group to Limelake Studio for a 4pm start. 

Please bring along your cameras, tripod, and any other equipment you think may be useful ie Reflector, flash etc if you have such belongings.  Melanie will have most of these items for us to use, but depending how many attend we may need more.   

We will return to my home for a BBQ tea.  It will be BYO drinks and meat, plus a salad or dessert.  Please confirm with your RSVP which you would prefer to supply.  Once numbers are known I will confirm catering requirements.

A small group shared this special occasion when Veana and Coral were awarded their Life Memberships in recognition of outstanding service to the club over the last twenty years. They were both Foundation members from October 1998. Our Congratulations to both Veana and Coral. Well deserved.

My sincere thanks to all those who attended; supplied delicious salads and desserts and your support during the day as we celebrated WCC 20th year Anniversary Saturday 6th October. A great team effort and very much appreciated.

Thanks to WAPF President Colin White for making a special trip to Wagin from Perth to join us in Celebrating Wagin CC's 20th year and presenting Veana & Coral with their Life Memberships, which we managed (exceptionally well I might add) to keep as a surprise from them for the last 8 months.

 Wagin Gymkhanarama Exhibition

Wagin CC will be having a Photographic Exhibition as part of the displays to be held on the Weekend of 8th & 9th September in the Eric Farrow Pavilion.

The theme will be on past monthly topics, 6 Topics have been chosen and ‘My Country’ relating to the poem by Dorothea Mackellar.

28th July there will be another Lunar Eclipse which will fall under the earth’s shadow for four hours. The Longest Lunar eclipse in this century and the complete eclipse with be 1 hour and 43 mins, so plenty of time to experiment on your night photography. Apparently the moon will be low on our horizon when it starts to go dark.

Canon has just launched “Girt by Sea” A breath-taking exhibition in Sydney of 100 aerial images of our beautiful coastline by Tony Hewittand Denis Glennon, over a 31 day trip around Australia’s vast coastline by plane. You can view online. One site is www.abc.net.au/ or just type in Tony Hewitt Girt by Sea and lots of sites come up. Both men are from WA and Tony Hewitt is often involved with judging for the WAPF competitions and as guest speaker or instructs at workshop at WAPF events. Many of you may have already met him.
